Straight Answers
The questions every family asks, answered up front
What kind of place is this?
Harborstone runs professionally managed, substance-free recovery homes for adults age 18 and older, with separate homes for men and women. It is housing with structure: written expectations, curfews, drug and alcohol testing, house meetings, peer-support participation, and accountability check-ins. It is not a treatment center, and it does not provide detox, therapy, medical care, or clinical services.
What does it cost?
Recovery housing in Georgia is almost always self-pay, and homes across the state typically run between $500 and $5,000 a month. Harborstone sets its rate at opening and shares it directly in your first conversation, along with exactly what the fee covers. We pay and accept no referral fees.
Who gets in?
Adults committed to recovery who arrive substance-free, complete screening, and agree to follow the house expectations. Admission is never guaranteed. It depends on readiness, safety, household fit, and space. Your loved one participates in screening directly, always.
What is my role as family?
You can start the conversation. Many families do. From there, your loved one takes over the screening themselves, because recovery has to be theirs. With their written consent, Harborstone keeps an authorized family member or professional informed about admission status and appropriate updates.
What about visits, phones, and house rules?
Every home runs on written house standards, and the specifics, including visitor policies, come out in the open during the inquiry and admission process. Safety, privacy, and household stability guide every rule. You will not find surprise policies after move-in; expectations go in writing first.
What if it is not the right fit?
Then we say so, plainly, and point you toward help that fits better. The fit check gives you an honest read in two minutes, including the answers that are not a yes. The resources page lists real help beyond Harborstone: 988, treatment locators, and Georgia peer support.
